Made of sturdy papier-mâché, the egg features vibrant red and yellow roses in full bloom, set against a rich background of green, black, and gold.  It measures 7.5” in length and has the most vibrant colors.  It has gold Dresden foil trim around the rim of both the top and bottom parts with ornate, embossed detail. 
 
The egg opens at the center to reveal a hollow interior once used to hold Easter sweets or small gifts. The inside is unmarked but German no doubt and has white Dresden paper trim as was a common decoration in these candy containers.  The top is decorated with a beautiful large rare red silk ribbon with a checkered pattern.  This easter container is absolutely stunning.
